Little Lever 9
Horwich St. Mary's JETS 2

Thomas Roberts (1)

Well what a shock to the system the first twenty minutes of the game.

It seemed that every Little Lever attack would result in a goal and I feared for the confidence of the team against the champions elect (in my opinion).

The left winger ran us ragged and almost broke the net with every shot, I'm just glad that Bradley got out the way or else we would have lost another goalie.

Time after time we tried to get a foothold in the game but a big strong physical Little Lever team had other ideas.

Suffice to say a 7 goal deficit at the half did us no favours at all, the brilliant penalty save from Bradley being the only highlight of the half for the Jets, thats 2 out of 2 this season.

All the guys had to do was relax, stop bickering and be proud to wear the HSM shirt and start to focus, all the pressure was on Little Lever although they were in the driving seat.

A change in formation, with the emphasis on Nathan to test the defence one on one proved dividends. For the first time in the match Little Lever were found wanting and it wasnt long before we got a well taken goal from Tom Roberts who adopted the same tactics as the opposition left winger and caused the Little Lever full back all sorts of problems running onto the through ball.

Time after time Matt, James H and the consistently hard working Connor in the midfield broke up the opposition attacks and when the midfield was breached the defence were there to steady the ship.

The guys responded and got into the game more and more before Matt yet again this season found himself one on one with the keeper and there was only one winner.

Unfortunatley late on Little Lever snatched 2 further goals to make it 9 - 2 at the final whistle.

It could have been oh so different if I had been more tactically astute early on in the game, we may not have won but may given them a run for their money.

When you put your minds to it lads you are a match for any team in this division, we have two matches left lets finish on a high.

Man of the match was Connor.

Well done
